Early Life, Family & Education
Alexander Leehom Wang, born on May 17, 1976, in Rochester, New York, United States of America was the second son of the three. His parents were immigrants from Taiwan. He was greatly inspired by his brother to take interest in music when he was three years old.
He attended Jefferson Road Elementary School, Pittsford Middle School, and Pittsford Sutherland High School in Pittsford, New York. He graduated from Pittsford Sutherland and as he was very passionate about a career in music, he joined Williams College majoring in music & other studies.
Wang Leehom released his debut album, Love Rival, Beethoven in 1995 and was followed by his second album, If You Heard My Song in 1996.
Career
Over the summer of 1995, while visiting his grandparents in Taiwan, Wang competed in a local talent competition and ended up landing a recording contract with Bertelsmann Music Group.
His debut album under the label “Love Rival, Beethoven” was not well received and he was subsequently dropped from BMG.
In 1996 he signed a new contract with Decca Records. His second album “If You Heard My Song” was moderately successful and allowed his star to begin to rise in Asia. His third and fourth albums with similarly successful.
Personal Life
Wang Leehom got married to his Taiwanese girlfriend, Lee Jinglei on November 17, 2013. The couples have three children. First two daughters, Wang Jiali & Wang Jiana, and a son, Wang Jiayao.
Wang Leehom & Lee Jinglei got divorced on December 14, 2021.
