Early Life, Family & Education
On January 15, 1971, Regina King was born to her parents Gloria and Thomas King. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but spent much of her early life in View Park-Windsor Hills, California. Her father was an electrician while her mother worked as a special education teacher.
King was the first child of her parents. She also has a younger sister whose name is Reina King. Reina King used to be an actress and had worked in the film “What’s Happening Now.” In 1988, King completed her high school education at Westchester High School.
She later attended the University of Southern California and studied Communications. However, she quit her University after two years of studying to pursue her dream of becoming an actress.
Career
Regina King began her acting career in 1985 by playing the character of Brenda Jenkin in the show 227. Though the show finished in 1990, the actress was getting many other roles. In the 1990s, King appeared in many popular films. In 1997, Regina King married Ian Alexander, Sr. The marriage lasted ten years until the couple separated in 2007. The couple had a son who was born on January 19, 1996. The name of the son was Ian Alexander Jr. and he was a DJ. Unfortunately, King’s son committed suicide on his birthday in 2022.
King had also been romantically involved with Malcolm-Jamal Warner. They first met in the 1980s but parted ways in 2013.
