Between Catherine Called Birdy and, to a lesser extent, The Princess, it’s clearly the best an open door for current turns on period stories.
The latest voyaged our course in Rosaline, highlighting Kaitlyn Dever as the hero, in a film that gives one more point on Romeo and Juliet.
This new side-on story is told by the perspective of Juliet’s cousin Rosaline (Dever), who also is Romeo’s new past love interest.
Dismal when Romeo (Kyle Allen) meets Juliet (Isabela Merced) and begins to seek after her, Rosaline plans to ruin the well known feeling and win back her individual.
From the energies of this, it’s a comedic cut loose, with Rosaline doing everything she can for discrete the new dears – and provoking Juliet’s enormous game plan to fake her end in one of the most notable bits of Shakespeare’s play.

It doubtlessly is by all accounts fun – with Minnie Driver as Rosaline’s wry clinical overseer – and Rosaline will be on Hulu in the States and Disney+ here on 14 October.
